WHERE IS THE LEARNING?

As you look back on opportunities that came from “problems” and evaluate your solutions, be sure to note where learning occurred. This is critical for moving ahead in business. If a problem arose, find out how it happened. For instance, did the thumb drives not sell because the market for them shifted to online cloud computing, or were more people using their smart phones for data storage? Did Connie or the vendor simply misplace a decimal in the order or add in a zero? These details can be incredibly useful in future planning. After the solution has been implemented, find out what was learned. If Leo Laporte promoted the new thumb drives on his multiple podcasts, how many were sold? How many new customers did the company get, and what other products were sold to them? Was this a worthwhile investment that should be continued or repeated?
